Bachelorette Party Vs Bridal Shower

If your best friend is getting married and you have been named the maid of honour, you will now have the duty of organizing the bridal shower. Bridal showers have been called many names through the years and they are often used interchangeably with bachelorette parties however, these two events are both very different from each other. Most people do not realize that there is a difference between these two terms.

If you are looking for bachelorette party ideas or hens night ideas you will notice that these parties are more along the lines of wild, loud parties similar to bachelor parties thrown for men. Traditionally, a groom is thrown a bachelor party which is essentially a night out on the town with his wedding party while a woman is thrown a quiet party at home with all her female family members where is showered with gifts. However, with changing times and gender roles, women too are being thrown events similar to the bachelor party which is what is known today as the bachelorette party or hens night.

Your best friend’s personality

If you are wondering which kind of party you should throw for your best friend, you should let her own personality be the judge of that. If your friend is a wild, loud fun loving type of person, you should go for the bachelorette party which you can throw at a social venue such as a night club or a party venue but if your friend is generally quiet and reserved, a bridal shower may be the best option for her.

The truth is however, you do not need to make a choice in the first place. If you cannot make up your mind which party to throw for your best friend, you could simply go ahead and throw her both. Your duty is to make her happy and by doing this, you will make her even happier. The quiet party at home will be a completely different audience since you will be inviting her female family members including her mother, her grandmother and so on whereas at a bachelorette party, you will invite only her best friends. There is no doubt that she will want all of these people to be a part of her pre wedding events and thus, both parties may be the best idea. In fact, with changing times, we are seeing the entire bridal party, male and female both get together to throw a bigger and better joint bachelor-bachelorette party for the couple combined.
